What this test measures
This test looks at your work values — the rewards and conditions that matter most to you in a job. It draws on the well-established idea that people are more satisfied when their work supplies what they value most. The questions ask how important different aspects of work are to you; from your answers, it estimates how strongly you hold six common work values. It uses original, plainly-worded items, is completely free, and makes no claim to be equivalent to any commercial questionnaire.
The six work values
Most people care about several of these at once; the result shows which matter most to you right now, not which are "better".
- Achievement — using your skills well and feeling a real sense of accomplishment in what you do.
- Independence — working on your own, making your own decisions, and trying your own ideas.
- Recognition — status, advancement, and being valued for good work.
- Relationships — friendly co-workers, helping others, and work that fits your sense of what is right.
- Support — fair, supportive management and an employer that stands behind its people.
- Working conditions — pay, security, comfort, and a steady, well-organized environment.
How to read your result
Your result is a profile — how strongly you hold each value — not a single label, and no value is better or worse than another. The useful question is which values you would least want a job to ignore, and to keep those in mind when you compare roles.
What your results do and don't tell you
This reflects what you say matters to you today — not your skills, your future pay, or the one right job for you. What you value can shift with life stage and experience. Use the result to start a conversation and guide your search, not as a verdict. It is a free, self-guided exercise for reflection, not a clinical or professional assessment.
Frequently asked questions
- Is this work values test free?

- They are the rewards and conditions you most want from work — such as achievement, independence, recognition, relationships, support, and good working conditions. People rank them differently, and there is no single right order.
- How long does it take?
- Only a few minutes. You can pause and come back at any time.
- Is this a paid or clinical assessment?
- No. It is an original, freely-worded questionnaire for self-reflection — not a clinical or professional instrument, and it makes no claim to be equivalent to a commercial one.
- What should I do with my result?
- Use it when you compare jobs and workplaces: look for roles that supply the values you rank highest, and be cautious about ones that clash with them.
