20 questions≈7 min

What this checks

What this test measures

This test is based on the Big Five, also called the Five-Factor Model — the most widely researched framework for describing personality. It groups the many ways people differ into five broad traits, each a spectrum rather than a box. The questions ask how well various statements describe you; from your answers, it estimates where you fall on each of the five traits. It uses original, plainly-worded items, is completely free, and makes no claim to be equivalent to any commercial questionnaire.

The five traits

Each trait is a range — most people are somewhere in the middle, not at an extreme — and higher or lower is not better or worse. Each end has its own strengths.

How to read your result

Your result shows where you fall on each of the five traits, not a single label. Traits describe tendencies, not limits, and the "best" profile depends entirely on the situation. Read all five together, and remember that people can and do act outside their usual pattern.

What your results do and don't tell you

This reflects how you described yourself today — not your ability, your worth, or the one job you should do. Personality is fairly stable but not fixed, and it works together with your skills, values, and circumstances. Use the result for reflection and conversation, not as a verdict. It is a free, self-guided exercise, not a clinical or professional assessment.

Frequently asked questions

Is this Big Five personality test free?
Yes. It is completely free, needs no account or sign-up, and your answers stay in your browser. There is nothing to buy and no email required.
What is the Big Five?
It is a well-researched model that describes personality with five broad traits: extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, emotional stability, and openness. Each one is a spectrum rather than a category.
How long does it take?
Only a few minutes. You can pause and come back at any time.
Is this the same as a paid or clinical personality test?
No. It is an original, freely-worded questionnaire based on the public Five-Factor model, for self-reflection only — not a clinical or professional instrument, and not equivalent to a commercial one.
What should I do with my result?
Use it to reflect on how you tend to work and relate to others, and to think about environments and roles that play to your strengths — not to rule anything out.
